FridgIt: Waste Less, Taste More (trading as FridgIt) is the data controller for the personal data described below. This notice explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have.

1. Who we are

FridgIt: Waste Less, Taste More operates the FridgIt app. We decide how and why your personal data is processed, which makes us the data controller. Contact us at support@fridgit.online.

2. What we collect and why

• Account data (email address, login credentials, authentication identifiers) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• App content (fridge and pantry items, photos of your fridge and receipts, grocery lists, meal plans, saved and liked recipes, dietary preferences, household size) — to provide the features you use. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Usage and device data (app events, error logs, device identifiers, IP address) — for security, fraud prevention, debugging and product improvement. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Marketing contact (only if you opt in) — to send product updates. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Dietary restrictions and allergy information may reveal health-related details. We process them only to filter recipes for you, and only with your consent given by entering them in the app.

3. AI processing

Photos you scan and the ingredient lists used to generate recipes are sent to our AI processing providers to return results to you. We instruct providers to process this data only on our behalf and not to use it to train their models where that option is available.

4. Who we share data with

• Service providers and subprocessors: cloud hosting, database and authentication, AI model providers, analytics and error monitoring, and support tooling.
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
• Authorities or regulators where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Retention

We keep account and app content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or stop using FridgIt, we delete or anonymise your data within 90 days, except where we must keep records longer for legal, tax or accounting reasons. Scanned photos are used to produce results and are not retained beyond what is needed to process them.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Email support@fridgit.online and we will respond within one month.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level database security, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risk low and will notify you of a breach where the law requires.

9. Cookies and local storage

• Essential — keeping you signed in and storing your app preferences. These are required for FridgIt to work.
• Analytics — understanding which features are used, so we can improve them.

We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser or device settings, though signing out may be required afterwards.

10. Changes
