This policy explains how FridgIt: Waste Less, Taste More (trading as FridgIt) uses cookies, local storage and similar technologies.

1. What these technologies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. FridgIt also uses local and session storage, which keep information in your browser. We refer to all of them here as "cookies".

2. What we use and why

• Strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, remembering guest mode, protecting forms against abuse and routing you to the right page. FridgIt cannot work without these.
• Preferences — fridge and pantry contents on this device, dietary settings, household size, meal plan, theme and onboarding progress.
• Payments — Paddle, our Merchant of Record, sets cookies during checkout to process payments securely and prevent fraud.
• Analytics and error reporting — anonymous or pseudonymous measurement of feature use and errors, so we can fix problems and improve the app.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell information collected through cookies.

3. Third parties

Some cookies are set by providers acting on our behalf: our cloud hosting, database and authentication provider, and Paddle for checkout and subscription management. Their own privacy and cookie notices apply to data they collect as controllers.

4. How long they last

Session cookies are deleted when you close the app or browser. Sign-in tokens and preference values typically last until you sign out or clear browser data, and no longer than 12 months without being refreshed by continued use.

5. Your choices

You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser or device settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and stop parts of FridgIt working, and clearing local storage while in guest mode permanently removes the fridge data saved on that device. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.
